Charity - No "Gentle Jesus Meek and Mild" Here
It is fairly safe to say that most World Religions require Manifestation Code System Review that their adherents practice acts of charity. In my faith - Christianity - believers in and followers of Jesus are understood to have a dead faith if they do not consistently do good deeds. According to Matthew's Gospel, Jesus asserts that those who show ongoing compassion for others - "the right" will be told: "Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world."
The others - "the left" - will be told, "Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me." No "Gentle Jesus Meek and Mild" here.
So given that most religions require acts of charity - and Christianity says, "Heck, yes!" to those who don't practice what they preach - why is it that area aid organizations which provide food, clothing, shelter, and visitation are begging for volunteers? I don't know of many people who don't have four hours a week to give to the poor and the lonely. I do know that our obsession with the internet, consumerism, and "my time" eat holes in our calendars and in our souls. It certainly does in mine.
